The wonderful journey of a shoebox
Samaritan’s Purse is an international non-profit organization dedicated to helping those places in the world where there is the greatest need. One of its programs is Operation Christmas Child. The concept is simple: gifts for a boy or girl are placed in a shoebox, such as personal hygiene items, toys, school supplies, and new clothes. A donation of $10 is included for handling and postage, and the shoebox is sent as a Christmas gift to a child in great need around the world.
Although the concept is simple, the operation is extremely complex. It is the largest Christmas project in the world. Since 1993, OCC has distributed more than 205 million shoeboxes in more than 160 countries around the world. Puerto Rico officially joined this effort in 2009. With great joy, we are celebrating 15 years of participation in the project.
This year we want to continue increasing this amount. To do this, we rely on the participation of hundreds of volunteers, leaders and companies like PEPE GANGA that contribute to the collection process. Put together your box by purchasing items and toys at any of the 12 Pepe Ganga stores in Puerto Rico!
>We are counting on you to surpass our goal of 85,160 boxes
